A real treat for every listener.. This is the most comprehensive and interesting book on bugs written to date. Chapters include, "The Universe as Seen from a Suburban Porch," "Year of the Locust," and "Water Lizards and Aerial Dragons." Howard Ensign Evans does a remarkable job explaining the appetites, jobs, and dangers of every possible crawling, flying and leaping insect. Even the lowly mosquito deserves respect and has a reason for being here, according to Evans

The book captures the humour, insight and stubbornness of Frank Worsley from his upbringing in Akaroa, New Zealand, to his adventures with Shackleton and maritime career.Worsley's skills as a sailor, navigator and writer made Shackleton's story possible and the book gives a clear insight into the personal qualities of heroic era adventurers 'when ships were made of wood and men were made of steel'.A facinating and exciting book, well written and researched, with excellent photographs - this is my most frequently loaned book! [Incidentally, Frank Worsley's diaries can be seen at NZ's Canterbury Museum.]. But for those of us who already are eating the recommended servings this was kind of sad that that's all that the book recommended. It is only glued. Overall, a mediocre read. Hmm… at times they frustrated the pants of me with their infantile bickering; however, my way of thinking was swayed by the Yin and Yang theory. The pounds will not magically melt away just because you stop eating grains. It's excellent for what it does cover -- differential and integral calculus, ODEs, vector calculus up to Stokes' theorem, Fourier series, and basic probability. T
