This stunt could have very easily ended Hattie's life, but did anyone care? Also, I don't believe that Ryker had any sort of feelings for this girl. My 8 year old has read this book 50 times and probably read it another 50. In particular, after repeated experiments with equipment he largely designed and built, Lavoisier identified the element of oxygen, which he identified as le principe oxygine. This is a great starting point but I found another book was needed for the perfect trip. Although it's really written for highschool students, college students would find it useful also. You'll read something that comes off as absolutely certain and then read a counterpoint that calls into question everything you were just starting to take for granted. This is a great book, well worth reading. It's excellent for what it does cover -- differential and integral calculus, ODEs, vector calculus up to Stokes' theorem, Fourier series, and basic probability.
